Canon's G11 is the highest quality compact around. It has every manual feature an enthusiast would want and the the G11 is the latest version.Unusually, the Canon G11 has fewer megapixels than its predecessor (10 instead of 14.7) but those pixels are bigger, faster, and better in low light. It also now comes with a 2.8 inch flip out rotating screen at the back and a sharp 5X lens. It feels a bit plastic and bulky for a compact. It cannot match an SLR for quality and some buyers might lament not having a small compact for daily snapshots. |

The Nikon Coolpix S60 offers intuitive fingertip shooting control and a variety of exciting playback options, all seamlessly integrated into an innovative touch screen interface. With a newly developed 3.5-inch LCD monitor featuring a 16:9 widescreen display, the only physical button to press is the shutter – and even that isn’t needed when using handy features such as the self-timer or the new Smile Timer. The optimized interface offers a choice of three different HOME screens with large icons that make fingertip selection of operating modes and controls easy and accurate. Even the 5x zoom can be controlled via icons on the touch screen. Advanced features include the ability to lock autofocus and exposure on a subject by simply touching the corresponding location on the screen. The camera then follows the subject’s movement to ensure sharp focus when the shutter is pressed. And, when used in conjunction with the new Portrait One-touch Zoom function available in Portrait or Night Portrait scene modes, one more touch of the screen commands the camera to automatically zoom in and capture the subject with just the right amount of framing. Reviews to follow. |

Continuing the success of the T series range, the new Sony DSCT300 Cyber-shot digital camera is the slim and stylish successor to the DSCT200. With a 3.5 inch LCD touch screen and 5x optical zoom, the T300 now also features 10.1 mega-pixel resolution, Intelligent Scene Recognition and Music Slide Show. The DSCT300 is available in red, black and silver and weighs 149 grams (without battery). The Sony DSC- T300 is fashionably slim with an extra large 3.5-in. touch-screen LCD monitor. It features Sony's excellent Super SteadyShot® optical image stabilization which, coupled with High ISO, helps compensate for shaky hands and minimizes blur. Image quality suffers from noise and loss of image detail at all ISOs. Intelligent Scene Recognition automate 5 scene modes. The Sony T300 is an easy-to-use point-and-shoot for the casual photographer who will only print 4x6 in. and display for Web. the biggest difference between the T300 and its predecessor is that the new model is built around a more pixel-dense sensor. The lens range also changes, with the wide end getting a tiny bit wider (though we're not about to hold a street party for a 33mm wide angle camera). This is a side-effect of adding a larger, 1/2.3" sensor in the same position as the old 1/2.5" one. |
